SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The RN Specialist Patient Safety is responsible to assess for patient safety issues, including investigation, cause analysis, and the associated improvement projects to advance patient safety and reduce risk. Manage a portfolio of patient safety projects, monitor and evaluate clinical processes for the safe delivery of care. Present to hospital leadership and partner with clinical areas to improve patient safety. Educate caregivers and staff in patient safety sciences and methodologies. Drives initiatives using evidence based standards of care and standardization of processes to improve reliability of systems.
Bachelors Degree in healthcare required
3 years clinical practice required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of patient safety and quality improvement methodologies
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Currently licensed to practice as a RN registered nurse by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
2 years of progressive leadership or project management experience preferred
Certification in Patient Safety preferred
