Responsible for personnel supervision and ensuring compliance with Hospital policies and procedures. Acts responsibly in the interest of the Hospital with respect to enforcement and implementation of personnel policies to include adherence to collective bargaining agreements. Evaluates and disciplines employees, makes recommendations with respect to hiring and termination of employment. Oversees staff schedules and work assignments. Handles employee grievances consistent with Hospital policy. Coordinates the work load in the department.
Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduation from High School required. Some college preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current CST preferred. BLS required. Sterile Processing certification is preferred and will be encouraged.
SKILLS:. Demonstrated skills and ability in personnel supervision, management decision making, and time management. Must demonstrate proficiency in personnel supervision, scheduling, employee evaluations and implementation of hospital policies and procedures. Must have demonstrated knowledge of surgical instruments. Must have effective oral and written communication skills with individuals and groups. Must be able to orient to function as a staff person in the department.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years Operating Room experience and/or Sterile Processing experience. Management experience preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Provides direct supervision to: Sterile Processing Department (SP) staff. Responsible to: Director of Nurse Manager of OR, PACU, OPPC, and SP.

Works in a clean, well lit, ventilated smoke-free environment. Multiple simultaneous activities required. Exposure to infectious diseases. Subject to varying unpredictable situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations, prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Working hours vary, with flexibility required due to unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies. Requires the ability to speak, listen, and develop and communicate written materials.
