Provides operational and clinical leadership to a comprehensive program of clinical risk management, patient safety, and high reliability focused on minimizing the occurrence of adverse events and reducing risk from such events. Works with health system leadership to develop an effective clinical risk management infrastructure. Promotes early reporting of adverse events, investigation, and system improvements to reduce the risk of recurrence of events. Works with claims risk management on early disclosure of events to patients and family as appropriate. Standardizes and implements policies and procedures related to the practice of clinical risk management across the health system. Participates in the UMMC system-wide data collection software for event reporting, management and follow up. Designs and implements a system wide education to support the initiatives. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, accrediting agencies and professional standards.

Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field. Master's Degree preferred. Ten (10) years minimum experience in a clinical setting with five (5) of the ten (10) years in Risk Management, Patient Safety or Quality. Academic Medical Center experience preferred.
