Our 886-bed nonprofit, acute, tertiary, teaching Level I trauma center hospital is located in the heart of Los Angeles. The Pharmacy Department has over 500 staff members who provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services as well as outpatient services via two cancer centers, outpatient pharmacies and ambulatory care clinics.
The Drug Use Policy (DUP) Pharmacist Coordinator plays a key role in shaping medication policies, optimizing drug therapies, and ensuring safe and effective patient care at Cedars-Sinai. The DUP pharmacist is involved in developing content for Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee; initiatives may include evaluating new drugs for formulary, developing evidence-based guidelines in conjunction with medical staff, and strategic planning of policies/processes for improving efficiency. Additionally, the DUP team serves as gatekeepers for high cost/risk medications and drug information resource for medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff on complex therapeutic issues.
This position has a flexible hybrid opportunity (up to 50% remote) and inpatient staffing (1 weekend per month) requirement.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Pharm.D. degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy in the USA
Completion of a PGY1 residency or equivalent practice experience. PGY2 in Drug Use Policy or Drug Information is preferred
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California.
BLS certification upon hire

Maintains an excellent clinical database and critical thinking skills, including the ability to provide recommendations on the management of complex patients, utilizing organizational policies and evidence-based medicine.
Possesses experience in drug information services and formulary development.
Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare disciplines to define and implement new clinical guidelines, workflows or programs
Exhibits capability to teach and serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and residents.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize projects to meet goals.
Possesses ability to evaluate implications for the use of automated information systems with the development of clinical initiatives.
