CHOC, Children's Hospital of Orange County, is looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to join us as Director of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology. This is a highly collaborative role that will partner closely with our leaders in Clinical Quality, Regulatory, and Risk Management.

The Director of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology is responsible for leading and managing the infection prevention and control program across the pediatric health system. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to prevent and control infections, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting a culture of safety and quality care.

The ideal candidate will have experience working for a Pediatric hospital, and a deep understanding of pediatric epidemiology.

Experience

Required:  Minimum of 8 years of related experience in infection prevention and control, with at least 4 years in a leadership role within a healthcare setting, preferably pediatrics.

Preferred:  Advanced experience in infection prevention and epidemiology Advanced experience with The Joint Commission (TJC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Title 22, Title 17, and Orange County Health Department and Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA).

Preferred: Five (5) or more years of experience working in a teaching facility.

Education

Required: Master’s degree with emphasis in a healthcare-related field such as epidemiology, microbiology, public health, nursing, or equivalent.

Specialized Skills

Required: Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles, practices, and regulations. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards. Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Manages sensitive issues respectfully, with utmost care and compassion. Advance practice through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC’s Mission. Prior experience with The Joint Commission (TJC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Title 22, Title 17 and Orange County Health Department and Orange County Health Agency (OCHA).

Preferred: Advanced level of CDC-N HSH definitions, requirements and facility administrator. Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Work, Excel, PowerPoint).

Licensure

Required: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or required within 12 months of employment.

Preferred: Advanced certification/fellowship in infection control and epidemiology.
