In alignment with SSM Health’s priorities, leads all ambulatory clinical pharmacy services and programs including but not limited to: the primary care clinical pharmacy program, infusion services, oncology pharmacy services, anticoagulation services, specialty pharmacy services; and chronic disease and medication management programs, such as Endocrine, Neurology, Pain Management, Heart Failure, Tobacco Cessation, etc.
Continually assesses ambulatory pharmacy services quality, cost, delivery, safety, customer service and engagement results and provides recommendations for improvement and/or business development in order to achieve outcomes and goals for system-wide quality, service and financial viability.
Participates in developing and monitoring the system’s ambulatory pharmacy programs, services, plans, goals, budgets and performance metrics (service, quality assurance, financial).
Develops efficient workflows and appropriate task assignments for daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities. Ensures completion of assigned projects on-time and on-budget.
Assures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for ambulatory pharmacy operations (e.g. Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, Boards of Pharmacy).
Assures compliance with standards of practice from accrediting organizations (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the American Society of Health-systems Pharmacy) and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees.
Responsible for value initiatives and cost management related to ambulatory pharmacy, both within the Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) and across the contracted network, working closely with leaders, providers and other external stakeholders
Seeks innovative ways to reduce operating expenses and develops the necessary programs to deliver cost-effective services and products.
Coordinates the communication of pertinent pharmacy information to physicians, advanced practitioners, and non-physician employees.
Assists in the development of new ambulatory pharmacy services lines and/or programs across the system.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D; Bachelor of Pharmacy) from an accredited school of pharmacy
A master’s degree in pharmacy or business administration (upon hire or within three years)
EXPERIENCE
Five years experience, with two years in leadership
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Rare climbing.
