On behalf of our client, Kitsap Mental Health Services in Bremerton, Washington, we are seeking an experienced director of nursing who can provide strong administrative leadership skills and help lead the nursing team through organizational change. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer and is responsible for managing the administrative and clinical functions associated with nursing services.
KMHS is a not-for-profit organization that provides inpatient, outpatient, and residential behavioral health services for people of all ages. Mental health and substance use programs treat approximately 7000 people each year. The organization employs 500+ individuals and in 2021 reported nearly $45 million in revenue. The nursing team provides care to outpatients, the Psychiatric Assertive Care Team (serving homebound patients) and five different 24-7 units (crisis unit, acute inpatient unit, youth inpatient unit, drug recovery unit, and residential treatment unit). The director is responsible for efficient operation, inventory control, personnel and financial management, client flow, and adherence to policies for all these clinical functions. Direct reports include two nurse supervisors, three PACT nurses, and a quality improvement manager. Deliverables in the first six months include medication policy renewal, pharmacy and Pyxis safety protocol development and oversight of a robust quality improvement initiative.
The selected individual will have demonstrated experience (7+ years) in managing nurses and be skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Must be able to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate. An active RN license in Washington state is required, as is an associate degree in nursing. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
The KMHS main campus resides in Bremerton, which at 43,000 people, is the largest city on the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula. Over 275,000 residents call Kitsap County home. The peninsula is often described as the natural side of Puget Sound. Blessed with natural beauty, it offers numerous opportunities for outdoor recreational activities.
