Under the direction of the Director, the Property/Casualty Risk Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation and risk mitigation activities of MMCIP’s Property/Casualty Insurance and Physician Underwriting Programs. Gathers and analyzes data, prepares reports, conducts meetings and keeps the Director informed about any significant developments. Participates in implementation of the Department’s strategic plan.
Assists with the management and review of the underwriting process by identifying acceptable risk and recommending the provision of insurance coverages in accordance with developed protocols for MMCIP’s property/casualty and physician underwriting programs.
Participates in management and review of insurance coverages and as required notifies the insurance carrier of actual or potential claims. Assists in ascertaining physician coverages, claims histories and any other relevant information to make appropriate underwriting decisions.
Compiles, trends, and analyzes data for Medical System and FPI Management. Identifies patterns or trends of potential exposure. Recommends and encourages appropriate action in response to issues.
Develops, implements, and maintains processes to prevent losses to employees, visitors, and staff; and property and facilities by:
Assisting in the development and implementation of loss control policies and procedures.
Coordinating insurer property/casualty loss control surveys to identify exposures; monitoring policy/procedure compliance, reviewing relevant staff education and training, providing recommendations for improvement; and monitoring for compliance with regulatory requirements.
Participates in the development and presentation of education and training initiatives and programs. Assists in planning, development, and implementation of loss prevention programs for MMCIP insureds. Responds as appropriate to insureds questions pertaining to insurance coverages and policy compliance.
Attends and participates in meetings and committees as assigned. Holds periodic meetings to review pertinent risk management issues and solutions.
Completes mandatory employee health, workers compensation, HR processes and other training and requirements in required time frame to insure compliance with all FPI rules and regulations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required.
1-2 years insurance management skills.
Risk Management/insurance experience preferred.
Strong working computer knowledge with Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel preferred.
