We are conducting a national search for Senior Director Facilities, Development & Construction to join our team. You will be the primary driver and executor for facilities development & construction across multiple academic medical centers in Tucson, Arizona.
The Tucson market consists of 3.6M square feet managed including 2 academic medical centers with a total of 870 beds, 30 clinics and offices, and 80+ team member Facilities Services organization.
- As a leader of leaders you will provide direction and operational oversight of all facilities functions, including planning, design, construction, licensing, maintenance, repair, and energy management in the Tucson market

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will provide leadership, management and guidance to area Facilities and Development/Construction teams. Ensure compliance with strategic vision, and priorities while seeking opportunities for efficiency. Identify high-value talent within team to develop succession planning and manage talent acquisition, assignments, and performance. Demonstrate leadership qualities that foster a collaborative environment for continuous improvement and development as well as continually supporting and exhibiting company core values and service standards. Establish and maintain a culture of customer responsiveness throughout the team.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Meet regularly with stakeholders including hospital administration, corporate leadership, and areal clinical leadership to understand current and future needs, pulse satisfaction, and develop actions plans to meet facility requirements, delivering the highest customer service and results.
2. Provide leadership for area team in developing annual business plans, operating and capital budgets, managing cost and variances to ensure financial targets are met or exceeded. Monitor performance goals, develop management plan to meet or exceed metrics, and create improvement plan, when applicable. Implement process improvements focused on service support, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, efficiency and cost while maintaining supportive environments for regional teams.
3. Provide leadership in collaboration with regulatory management, emergency management and environmental health and safety teams in developing compliance programs to meet CMS, TJC and all AHJ licensing and regulatory standards.
4. Ensure collaborative support to ROC, Shared Services, Supply Chain and other system teams to deliver cost effective service excellence.
5. Prioritize and implement capital improvement projects, capital infrastructure planning, and influence design standards based on operational learnings and team feedback. Effectively manage all new construction and major renovation projects for market area.
6. This position has administrative leadership responsibility for the daily operation of all facility services and departments within assigned area. It is also responsible for coordinating services with other administrators, internal legal counsel, executives, and other staff. This position has constant contact with staff members, with senior corporate leaders, and with contract services. Customers of this position are both internal and external, including leadership, staff, regulatory agencies, and the community.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management/Design/Construction, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration.
Depending upon assigned area of responsibility, position may require applicable certifications and/or licensures, including but not limited to: RN; MD or DO; Driver’s License; Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA); Certified Protection Professional (CPP); Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Associate in Risk Management (ARM); CPA; SPHR; Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT); Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM); Certified Facility Manager (CFM); Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Professional Coder (CPC); JD from an American Bar Association accredited school; admission to a State Bar Association.
A minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible healthcare facilities experience in designated facility, business entity or area, including a minimum of seven years management level experience within a major health care organization, health system setting, or large multi-operational corporate environment in complex industries similar to healthcare. Proven track record of driving successful performance outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals. Experience anticipating and responding to the needs of internal and external customers. Experience managing a budget. Strong financial and business acumen. Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting methodologies. Able to analyze and interpret data. Skilled in building partnerships with management, staff, and stakeholders to achieve department goals and objectives
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements related to the environment of care.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
