Manager of Risk Services
Hybrid Position - Work Remote 1-2 days per week!
The Manager of Risk Services under the direction of the Director of Risk Management performs duties in line with organizational and loss prevention goals and objectives, coordinates data analysis, including application, interpretation, and implementation of comparative reporting, and litigation support. The Manager works closely with the Director to identify and evaluate risks as a means to reduce injury to patients, staff members, and visitors within the organization and works to proactively prevent incidents or to minimize the damages following an event to accomplish the organization's goals.

Responsibilities - Supports risk management activities for VHC hospital, insured physicians and affiliated entities.
- Acts as a resource regarding risk services and clinical best practices for loss prevention and patient safety.
- Reviews safety events to assist with identification of potential risk issues.
- Analyzes and manages claims made against the organization.
- Uses knowledge of clinical settings and scope of practice to assist Director with potentially compensable events.
- Coordinates attorney assignments, witness interviews, discovery responses.
- Reviews and discusses litigation pleadings and motions with Director to coordinate claim management.
- Updates monthly litigation and claims status report.
- Crafts and edits policies and procedures related to patient safety and risk mitigation.
- Participates in online event reporting audits and data entry in the event reporting system database, interprets findings and trends.
- Facilitates professional practice investigations by public agencies including the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
- Verifies practitioner past claims history in concert with Medical Staff office.
- Manages time in such a way to meet individual and team goals for productivity, quality on a daily basis.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload according to project goals and objectives.
