Supporting this mission we are adding a Director of Strategy and Business Development to our Gene Editing Institute (GEI). This individual will lead all aspects of and expand our scientific development through business development and licensing opportunities including alliance management.
This high-profile role within GEI reports to the Executive Director and will be heavily involved in owning the company's present and future partnerships and arrangements, while also playing a key role in identifying and evaluating external opportunities. The GEI is well known for advancing gene editing technologies for use as novel therapeutics, addressing uncertainty and mistrust in gene medicine by developing and delivering new educational modules to all members of society and, exploring and innovating gene editing processes that enable drug discovery, this is the opportunity you have been seeking!
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Alliance Management: Develop and lead the GEI's ongoing and future strategic alliances and contribute to building an internal infrastructure and external processes with our partners
Search & Evaluation: Working closely with GEI leadership, lead projects regarding the search for, and evaluation of, external platform and product opportunities consistent with the GEI development strategy
Build relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners that deliver strategic and operational plans
Design and implement strategic transactions
Develop deal structures, terms, creation and management of supporting financial models
Collaborate with leadership team routinely on the progress of the licensures and alliances and make directional recommendations based on research funding and product performance
Provide guidance regarding the development of budgets, policies, and procedures to support the business opportunities
Develop new licensing initiatives and participate in long-term planning
Own the work of initiating and developing new business opportunities using the executive team and members of GEI to close deals
Minimum 5 years of Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical industry business development and licensing experience required
Demonstrated track record of supporting business development opportunities that lead to the execution of license and collaboration agreements, joint ventures and/or equity investments
Understanding of intellectual property, bio-therapeutics lifecycle management and commercialization of biotechnology-based products including software
