The Patient Safety Manager is a Registered Nurse who provides direct staff support to medical center staff in planning, designing, integrating, and evaluating the effectiveness of the patient safety program in the facility. He/she has primary responsibility for the oversight of the facility-wide patient safety program. The Patient Safety Manager assists in directing staff within the facility towards process improvement that will support the reduction of medical errors. Patient Safety Manger Duties: Meets the scope and qualifying standards for all dimensions of a Nurse Demonstrates knowledge of and appropriate response to requirements, reviews and findings of regulatory agencies (i.e.: National Center for Patient Safety, The Joint Commission, the Office of Inspector General, VISN 4 Office, etc.) Demonstrates the ability to evaluate requirements, reviews and findings and identify appropriate actions, plans, goals and implementation strategies to support performance improvement Facilitate Root Cause Analysis, Health Care Failure Mode Effect Analysis teams, Process Action Teams, and work groups as assigned Assures timely completion of all groups assigned- Provides direction and education to group members to assure compliance with guidelines and charges these group members with assignments Acts as a consultant to Medical Center and Nursing Leadership for patient safety program specific standards and requirements Coordinates and provides support to the agency and to all regulatory and inspection teams in preparation for and during site visits Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office products (i.e.: Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and utilization of databases commonly used in the daily performance of duties (i.e: SPOT, JPRS), including various equipment used in presentations and teachings Provides mentoring and acts as a preceptor to all members of the interdisciplinary team regarding patient safety and quality management standards as well as Medical Center policies and processes that support performance Collaborates with multidisciplinary staff to identify performance topics, identify and define measurable criteria, track and report findings Ensures processes for appropriate orientation, education, and continuing professional development standards and that these are implemented across disciplines Fosters translation of new policies, procedures, research and standards into improving care Provides leadership at a programmatic level for the evaluation of new policies, procedures, research and standards implemented Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
