The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH) seeks a Sr Program Manager who will manage multiple international training and capacity building programs. This position will be responsible for providing leadership for the development, coordination, implementation, and growth of these programs independently.
The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH) builds capacity through interdisciplinary global health education and training programs, conducts implementation science and research, and provides technical assistance service to government and civil sector organizations in countries supported by the President's Emergency Plan for HIV/AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through an an affiliated organization, Friends in Global Health (FGH).

Develops program plans, goals, and objectives in collaboration with program and area leadership.
Provides professional and/or technical leadership in the execution of day-to-day program activities.
Communicates within and across department to maximize information sharing around progress, needs, interdependencies and accomplishments.
Participates in institutional task forces and other special committees related to the achievement of goals and objectives.

Senior staff member for multiple international training and capacity building programs, responsible for:
day-to-day management of the program and trainees, including visas, stipends, insurance, financial management, online training, etc.
serving as liaison to funding agencies and partner institutions
connecting interested applicants with potential programs and mentors, providing consultation for applications
developing timelines and ensuring milestones are met
working with PIs to innovate within the programs and secure additional funding
reviewing expenditures, ensuring compliance, and managing program budgets in partnership with IMPH finance team
leading reporting, publications, and other dissemination activities
serving as primary point of contact for IRB and other institutional partners
Organize and lead meetings, workshops, and other program activities
Build surveys and conduct program evaluation activities
Write, edit, review, and submit manuscripts
Travel to domestic and international sites and conferences as needed to meet with collaborators, present findings, or teach workshops
Supervision/management of programmatic, research, and administrative staff, as well as interns
Other duties as assigned

MENTORING & COACHING (INTERMEDIATE):
The essence of training and mentoring on the job is transfer of knowledge. Whereas training can be considered more formal and scheduled, mentoring is often in the form of guidance and "hands-on" experiences. The reporting relationship is unimportant since the purpose is to pass on information and experiences. These discussions normally center around a person's goal of learning job procedures, content, standards, analysis and problem-solving.
