The VP, Human Resources, UPMC North Central Region will provide strategic HR leadership and functional guidance to a designated customer base across a $1 billion, six hospital “system” including its flagship hospital in Williamsport, PA. The VP, Human Resources is responsible for partnering and consulting with internal stakeholders to develop and execute human capital strategies that enable achievement of goals and objectives and represent the region within its community. This position will have a direct reporting relationship to the VP, Human Resources, Health Services Division & Hillman Cancer Center based in Pittsburgh, and indirect/dotted report to the President for the region. The VP, Human Resources is a critical role for the North Central Region as it continues to expand and grow in market presence and market share. This position will interact with the shared services team in Pittsburgh as well as with other key leaders in the System and business units, human resources teams and the North Central Region board. Within this centralized and matrixed human resources and operations structure, the VP, Human Resources will lead the local human resources team in what is both a strategic and an operational role. The VP, Human Resources will be directly responsible for a human resources structure which includes a Director, Human Resources along with recruiting teams, employee relations and analytics, all working to address local market economies, industry competition and ensuring North Central provides the best patient and employee care in its community. The role will manage a 21 strong team and will participate in system-wide human resources initiatives as well as implement and oversee local plans relevant to the region. Communication and connection with human resource’s structure and shared services teams will be important to ensure consistency and maintaining the unrelenting best-in-class approach to excellence UPMC is recognized for.
Strategic: -Support the President, North Central Region and the leadership team as a trusted partner and coach as collectively they lead the Region forward on its growth path. -Consult with the North Central Region senior leadership to assess business needs and formulate human resource plans to contribute to the achievement of the business strategy and goals; collaborate on growth strategies and budget management to achieve intended outcomes. -Provide thoughtful leadership and serve as an organizational advisor to senior leaders; providing counsel to effect strategic change, enhance organizational design as needed, report on program effectiveness and lead cultural change as required. Monitor business results and take actions as needed to ensure UPMC’s long-term effectiveness in serving its mission. -Further develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive people strategy that positions the North Central Region to achieve its vision of being the local employer and health care provider of choice.
