Reporting to Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center (JMMMMC) Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) directs all functions of the hospital and facilities in keeping with the overall policies established by the Governing Board and in compliance with regulatory guidelines in order that the strategic objectives of the institution can be attained. Also, provides leadership and direction in ensuring the efficient, economical, and effective utilization of resources to meet the identified needs of the service region through quality medical care and all health service programs. The CEO’s principle duties and responsibilities include:
Works collaboratively with the Medical Staff to assess, plan, address, and monitor the quality of health care delivery, operational considerations for safe patient care, health needs of the community, and physician recruitment and retention needs.
Assists, as needed and coordinates the selection process of new Governing Board members. Orients new Governing Board members to their role on the Board.
Ensures organization-wide policies and procedures; related personnel policies and practices that adequately support patient care, services, and programs at JMMMMC.
Informs and advises trustees regarding current trends, problems, and activities in healthcare to facilitate policy making.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring JMMMMC’s operations and its programs and physical properties and initiating changes where required.
Monitors system responsible for accounting, budgeting, responsibility reporting, internal controls, auditing, and cost reporting in collaboration with Chief Finance Officer.
Encourages the integration of the medical center with the community through effective communication and public relations programs.
Represents JMMMMC in its relationship with other health agencies, organizations, groups; in dealings with government agencies and third party payers; at top level meetings (national, state and local).
Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development to keep abreast of latest trends in hospital administration.
Performs other related administrative/managerial duties as directed and requested by the Governing Board.
Serves as Executive Director of the Melham Medical Center Foundation to coordinate its long-range fundraising efforts.
Serves as Administrator of Liberty Square Independent Living Apartment Complex.
The candidate will have served as a successful chief executive officer or in an executive leadership role preferably in a critical access hospital. Independent provider relationship management and collaboration experience preferred. The candidate must have a bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.
