In this critically important strategic role, the Vice President, Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Officer will provide enterprise-wide strategic leadership, direction, coordination and hands-on implementation of diversity-related programs, initiatives and advancement that engage Yale New Haven Health System employees and physicians, and embed effective diversity, equity and inclusion practices into day-to-day operations, processes, and employee development. This individual will serve as a champion, intellectual leader and community convener on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will promote a culture and climate that is supportive of developing and incorporating inclusion initiatives related to education and training, recruitment and retention, staff and leadership development, and care delivery.
Within the context of YNHHS’ values and operating under the belief that YNHHS is and will be infinitely stronger when there is equity and inclusion for all stakeholders, the successful candidate for this role will lead from a position of influence to create and foster an environment enriched by diversity and inclusion. Reporting to the SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer, the successful candidate will work in close collaboration with other leaders across the enterprise, including the Yale School of Medicine.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
5-10+ years of leadership experience in human resources and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in a complex organization.
Demonstrated track record of developing an organizational plan with strategies and tactics that build and advance institutional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a large complex organization, including demonstrated results improving organizational metrics for diversity, equity and inclusion.
Demonstrated success as a leader, a change agent and a consensus builder.
Strong project leadership and management skills including ability to establish processes, practices, reporting, training, etc. Proven ability to deliver large-scale initiatives in a large and complex organization.
Demonstrated ability to influence organizational leaders and gain credibility. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
A track record demonstrating the ability to prioritize competing demands, utilize resources accordingly and manage multiple and competing complex projects, time frames and goals in a fast-paced environment, and execute a business case/value proposition for diversity and inclusion.
Advanced degree in Human Resources Administration, Human Resources Management, Social Sciences or related discipline.
