ABOUT THIS ROLE:
You will report to the Vice President of Risk Management and Safety and serve as expert risk consultant to over 250 healthcare entities insured by BETA. This position is responsible for reviewing, designing and leading policy or organizational programs based on current legislation, national, statewide and local trends and make recommendations at the senior management level to enhance employee safety and mitigate risk at member organizations. You will also be responsible for data management and the education components of risk management programs and services. You will lead organizational employee safety initiatives. You will manage and supervise a team in the Risk Management and Employee Safety Division.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
Be an active participant in management meetings.
Draft and/or provide input to the development of department policy and procedures.
Maintain a network of informational sources and experts; conducts or guides, mentors and coaches’ others in the performance of, risk assessments and on-site evaluations of member organizations to include care areas; reviews facility programs and processes to assess loss potential
Maintain risk management statistics and files
Ability to aggregate multiple data sets from a variety of systems to map risk; can manipulate data and communicate analyses to senior teams. Guides, coaches and mentors’ direct reports to set safety priorities for member and insureds utilizing available data sets and risk mapping process.
Maintain awareness of legislative and regulatory activities related to employee safety and workers’ compensation
Respond to workers’ compensation and employee safety-related questions posed by BETA members
Recommend appropriate revisions to new or existing policies and procedures to mitigate risk; recommends methods to minimize risk through system changes; reviews and provides recommendations to BETA members regarding facility policies as appropriate to maintain adherence to current standards and requirements.
Provide in-service training at all levels of organization to raise awareness to current and emerging risk exposure. Supervises the development of education and training resources developed by their direct reports. Assures alignment of BETA mission, vision and values and oversees the quality of work product delivered to members and insureds.
Oversee and is accountable for the deliverables arising out of project groups and task force activity. Leads and/or is an active contributor to the creation of safety initiatives, service offerings, tools, and resources to promote and enhance risk management and employee safety programs.
Draft division-specific service proposals for fee-for-service activities.
Supervise, schedule, assign, monitor and evaluate work of assigned staff.
May have on-call responsibility.
Responsible to manage and supervise greater than one direct report.
