JOB SUMMARY The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for designing and driving fund development activities for ACC Senior Services (ACC) and Meals on Wheels by ACC (MoW). The CDO has primary responsibility to build philanthropic relationships through ACC’s and MoW’s Board of Directors, individuals, foundations, corporations, volunteers, and strategic partners, including other community-based organizations, to ensure the tactical implementation of all strategies. This person will work in a fast-paced environment with fundraising staff, colleagues across all functions, and volunteers to help build relationships resulting in raising transformative philanthropy. The CDO reports to the ACC President & CEO and is an exempt (salaried) level position. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Fund Development Planning and Execution - Work with the President & CEO and senior management to align the fundraising strategy with the overall ACC and MoW strategy and mission.
- Model a donor-centric culture by supporting, mentoring, and encouraging staff to think beyond individual events and annual budgets and consider long-term, strategic, donor-driven giving.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit philanthropic support for ACC and MoW by developing and maintaining relationships with corporations, foundations, and individuals, leading to grant proposals, sponsorships, and gifts through face-to-face personal solicitation visits.
- Coordinate with the President & CEO, Fund Development Committee Chair, and Senior Leaders to support fundraising objectives, including developing the board of directors' capacity to support development goals.
- Lead and supervise staff and work with Fund Development Committee to effectively implement various fund development activities, including personal solicitations, preparation of high-quality proposals, grant reports and donor communications, execution of fundraising events, donor stewardship, and implementation of regular fund appeals.
- Develop and manage the revenue and expense budgets for fund development activities.
- Work with Marketing staff and/or other outside consultants to develop fundraising materials, events, and outreach activities that maintain a constant branding image through presentations and communication pieces.
- Cultivate key donors, volunteers, and sponsors and enable others to broaden the base of community support and involvement in achieving organizational goals.
Donor Relations - Partner with the President & CEO and Fund Development Manager, staff, and volunteers to create deeper relationships with high-giving capacity constituents.
- Develop fundraising strategies and methods or activities to ensure proper acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship of donors.
- Work to ensure ongoing major gift revenue growth with a strategic focus on retaining and upgrading existing donors while building a robust pipeline of prospects.
- Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors.
Oversee staff managing the Raiser’s Edge database to ensure the accuracy of all information and reports.
Other Responsibilities
- Contract with fundraising specialists such as grant writers, event planners, production resources, and others as needed.
- Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising.
- Maintain and protect confidential information, oversee and control confidential matters and documents.
- Other tasks as assigned.
