Work Hours/Shift:

• Full time Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

• Develops implements and evaluates the hospital’s infection control program to prevent and control the transmission of infections in the patient, employee and medical staff population.
• Monitors and reports communicable diseases to appropriate agency.
• Advises and educates staff on infection control policies.
• Prepares accurate tracking and trending of records/reports of epidemiological activities.
• Facilitates staff in infection control intervention strategies.
• Maintains facility compliance with infection control related federal and state regulatory agency guidelines and mandates.
• Develops the unit/department Infection Control Performance Improvement Plan.
• Coordinates and assists the development, review and revision of infection control policies and procedures.
• Provides necessary coverage and assistance as needed/directed with the department.
• Provides orientation/in-services to personnel, auxiliary, staff and community as needed.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and infectious disease processes, evidence-based best practices and external/public clinical outcomes reporting requirements.

• Knowledge of TJC-CAMH infection control standards/survey processes.
• Skilled in effective application of TJC, CDC and other best practice guidelines/recommendations
• Must be proficient in the English language.
• Mastery of performance improvement methodology and tools.
• Analytical and managerial ability; motivational and team building skills.
• Skilled in clinical data collection, aggregation and analysis.
• Effective communications; writing, listening, speaking and teaching.
• Excellent computer skills including IC-related databases and Microsoft Office products. i.e. NHSN

What You Will Need:

• Florida Registered nurse or other licensed health care professional
• Epidemiologist or special focused education in advanced Epidemiology

Job Summary:

The Infection Prevention Coordinator is a qualified individual with knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of nosocomial infections, TJC standards, Federal and State regulations. He/she is responsible for the investigation, identifications, reporting, prevention and control of nosocomial infections among patients and personnel.
