You Will Be Responsible For:
The Director of Community Benefit serves as a strategic partner and leader of community benefit teams systemwide to drive and enhance community health needs assessment and community health plan processes, community health improvement strategy development, and community benefit reporting. With a keen focus on social determinants of health, this role works closely with community benefit team members across the system to elevate and enhance our community health improvement efforts. Serves as the director for the systemwide Community Benefit team, as well as the CFD market directors and teams. Ensures alignment across CFD community benefit efforts, ensuring that division and system efforts align. Partners with Community Relations/Community Resource Network Director and the Director of Public Policy to ensure community benefit team efforts are in alignment with department goals and efforts.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Planning Community Health Improvement
Demonstrate ability to articulate complicated community health issues. Maintain and grow knowledge of community needs, prevalent health conditions, social determinants of health, strategic planning. Initiates and leads the development and execution of data-informed initiatives to enhance and improve the health of targeted populations as identified in the CHNA and other sources. Provide program leadership to address the social determinants of health through community benefit work efforts, setting priorities and aligning programs to amplify health outcomes. Associates population health improvement with community benefit by identifying best practices to improve quality of life and reduce health disparities in the community. Leverages and supports community benefit expenditures and implementation strategies to align with the organization’s strategic priorities. Provides oversight to creation and deployment of the system’s annual community benefit report, as well as division and regional breakdowns
Community Benefit Infrastructure
Provides leadership and direction to system Community Benefit team members, CFD Community Benefit/Community Health teams, and partners with system leads. Responsible for the strategic planning and operational performance of CFD Community Health team Leads and directs the Community Health Impact Council (CHIC), which includes funding requests, new project vetting, existing project progress reports and disbursement of funds. Partners with key internal hospital and health system clinical leaders and administrators to strengthen community health outreach, with special focus on underserved populations. Develop and direct the implementation of ongoing Community Benefit communication systems for Senior Leadership at AdventHealth and in all AdventHealth hospitals. Oversees the approximately $2M community benefit budget and Community Health Impact Council grants budget of approximately $1.2M.
Stakeholder Engagement
Working with the Community Relations/Community Resource Network Director, develop the skills of community benefit team members to forge alliances, analyze community assets and foster collaborative relationships with key community stakeholders, community based organizations, businesses and gov’t partners Prioritizes ongoing authentic and culturally competent community engagement. Develop systems and readily share evidence-based best practices and innovations to address identified community health needs to community benefit teams across the system. Lead AdventHealth’ s Community Benefit teams systemwide to complete the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) process, providing guidance, best practices, and education on the process. Lead AdventHealth’ s Community Benefit teams systemwide through the Community Health Plan (CHP) process. Providing guidance, best practice, tools/templates and education throughout the process. Leads the alignment of CFD-S and CFD-N Community Benefit/Health efforts to ensure an aligned division-wide approach to community benefit activities. This includes overseeing the CHNA, CHP development, Steering Committee and CHNA campus committees. Represents AdventHealth and collaborates with public and private community organizations and agencies to plan and implement programs to improve the health, wellness and quality of life of the community. Builds and/or oversees the development of community relationships throughout the Tri-County area, AdventHealth Foundation Board members and donors to engage them in community health improvement opportunities.
Data Collection, Reporting and Evaluation Develop and direct an efficient system for enhancing the collection and tracking of all Community Benefit activities within AdventHealth, working to drive accurate Community Benefit reporting. This is to include a regular audit process to ensure accuracy and a regular cadence of reporting, as well as a strategy to share with CEOs and key leaders. Develops or implements a framework for evaluating health outcomes data to report progress and provide evaluation of community health improvement goals. Leads the Community Benefit team’s efforts on analyzing and integrating primary and secondary data from relevant sources to engage leadership and influence strategic planning, advocacy and mission driven programs. Communicates program implementation, evaluation and outcomes to stakeholders. Partners closely with Finance and Tax teams to ensure accurate reporting, continued engagement and education with market finance leadership and alignment of CB reporting efforts systemwide.
Team Management and Activities
Direct and lead the Community Benefit system team, and CFD community health team. Align CFD-S and CFD-N Support the Executive Director in managing the Community Benefit budget. Consistently demonstrate initiative as well as problem-solving and leadership skills. Actively participate in departmental meetings and activities. Adhere to professional standards and department excellence in all activities.
Helps with the ongoing education and learning activities for the public policy and community benefit teams. QualificationsWhat you will need: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Team-oriented, self-motivated professional. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, planning, and writing skills. Consistently demonstrates strong leadership skills including management, proactive problem solving, collaboration, mentoring, analytical and communication abilities. Ability to interface and communicate effectively with a broad cross-section of government/community leaders as well as top Management and Leadership. Ability to work pro-actively and independently. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master’s Degree in public health, public policy or related field. Understanding of federal, state and local government processes. Experience in consensus building and collaboration. At least five years in government/public affairs, issues management and/or corporate communications
