• Provides a weekly summary of project progress and learnings to the regional executive director for the communication cascade to local executives and front line staff
• Demonstrates commitment to patient safety and protecting patients and providers by advocating safe practices and policies
• Holds paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public in the performance of professional duties and escalates patient safety concerns to appropriate leadership, up to and including executives, with honesty and integrity
• Acts as an in-house consultant for current and proposed needs for data and information to guide performance improvement by advising leadership and staff on methods of data collection and database design to maximize data integrity
• Defines the scope of a project to maintain focus and uses process and outcome measures to ensure that interventions are sustained over time
• Facilitates participation in patient safety performance improvement utilizing lean tools and techniques, PDSA, change management approaches and human factor re-engineering
• Constant contact with others including physicians, executive team, directors, managers and staff, other hospital department personnel, patients and families and community members.  Frequent contacts involving delicate, sensitive or controversial issues. Must facilitate discussions and resolve conflicts between all levels of management and staff as well as point out areas of deficiencies and need for improvement.  Must not be easily provoked. High degree of diplomacy and tact are required.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Active Florida RN license required or active multi-state RN license
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Job Summary:

The Process Improvement Specialist-RN is a qualified individual who, under the general direction of the region executive director, will provide project management and clinical analytic support to high priority cost and effectiveness initiatives throughout the system. The Process Improvement Specialist-RN is tasked with identifying inefficiencies in healthcare delivery services and solutions to re-engineer systems to improve the access, quality, and cost of care for beneficiaries and the organization. This role will primarily focus on process analysis, time and cost studies, process simulation, process and productivity improvement in the clinical setting. The Process Improvement Specialist-RN may work independently and within multidisciplinary teams toward the execution and implementation of projects directed at improving operational efficiencies for patient safety and highly reliable learning systems. The position is responsible for providing a planned, systemic approach to identifying, designing, measuring and monitoring process improvement activities. The RN specialist has a comprehensive understanding of data and analytic tools as well as health care information systems and technology with an advanced ability to apply these methodologies to extrapolate data, analyze and report in a meaningful format to inform and drive regional performance improvement activities. Functions as the regional project liaison between engineering and the local clinical teams for Lower the Cost and Improve the Product initiatives. Functions as a key member of the region strategic project and safety teams. Supports project development, coordination, and evaluation efforts. Specific functions include tool design, customer database programming, clinical and cost data extraction, analysis and reporting.
