Oversees and directs departmental activities to ensure quality services for both internal and external customers. Serves as a resource to and collaborates with others to advance the hospital mission. Plans, programs, and directs all facilities management services including capital construction and renovation projects, repairs and maintenance of all utility systems, buildings and grounds infrastructure upgrades, prepares long-range facilities master plan information. Directs facility planning, design, and selected construction process; and arranges for the preparation and presentation of materials and information concerning capital projects. Ensures facilities comply with licensure and regulatory requirements. Responsible for the talent and culture of the Facilities team, promoting collaboration and transparency.
Evaluates, develops, and implements departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and standards of work performance for the maintenance and repair of non-patient care equipment; buildings and building systems including equipment that provides air conditioning, heating, steam, hot water, electricity, sanitation, and medical gases. Monitors and confirms these processes are completed in compliance with codes, laws, standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
Effectively works with executive leadership to determine company needs and to define strategic plans.
Coordinates and assures compliance of facility and life safety related requirements including National Accreditation and Deeming Authorities,CMS, State, and other regulatory agencies including all inspections, maintenance, polices, and documentation. Coordinates life safety measures throughout the hospital including policies and procedures relative to fire and life safety.
Directs TM&E activities to include staffing, productivity, recruitment, performance evaluation, staff development, training, and orientation to insure operational needs and compliance with established policies and procedures and regulatory agencies. Maintains a high level of employee commitment as measured through periodic employee surveys. Approves time cards and maintains department staff files.
Manages department staff under his/her supervision and develops and maintains a department staffing plan that meets hospital operational requirements. Establishes and enforces service standards and provides training as needed to support the hospital’s customer service program goals.
Represents Facilities Operations in construction and design of new or renovated spaces.
Plans, develops and participates in departmental training and orientation programs; evaluates the effectiveness of the programs and adjusts and modifies as necessary.
Manages inventory and storage of materials, parts, and equipment; provides for material issuance and requisitioning and maintains adequate supply levels.
Responsible for selection and coordination of all maintenance service contractors. Ensures contractual provisions and hospital construction schedules are met and satisfy established standards of hospital policy and regulations and codes.
Develops annual operating budget to include personnel, equipment, materials, and supply needs. Monitors budget after adoption. Develops capital budget recommendations related to facility infrastructure needs. Prepares and presents various statistical and operating reports including monitoring and monthly reports of utilities usage and cost.
Coordination of resources to resolve deficiencies in the e-SOC.
Evaluates department operational processes by recommending and implementing process improvement initiatives to reduce cost and improve response time.
Oversees the development, review, approval, and implementation of department policies and procedures on safety, risk management, infection control, and other standards while assuring compliance with all regulatory/enforcement agencies; sets hospital standards for energy conservation initiatives.
Oversees the planning, organization, and management of the overall maintenance, repair, and physical operation of hospital facilities including offsite buildings and grounds. Maintains all hospital departments informed on a timely basis of projects that will impact the daily operations of the hospital.
Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Health Facility Manger (CHFM) preferred.

Expert knowledge of Central Energy Plant operations, Building Automation Systems (e.g., Johnson Control Metasys), Emergency Power Systems, and Medical Gas Systems, computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Preventative Maintenance Programs, and obsolescence planning.
Knowledge of LEAN methodology, Six Sigma and/or ISO 9001.
Able to effectively monitor and develop the abilities of subordinates.
Able to perform critical analysis of energy center issues.
Expert knowledge of regulatory requirements: National Accreditation and Deeming Authorities Enviroment of CAre standards, AIA guidelines, NFPA, Life Safety, ACHA, Florida Building Codes, and other applicable industry or regulatory standards.
Understanding of engineering principles and applications.
