The RWJBarnabas Health Behavioral Health Network Safety Director plans, develops and implements programs to provide a safe working environment for Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center and Behavioral Health Network employees, visitors and patients; works closely with local safety officers at each site and with Plant Operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for safety/ligature risk in all behavioral health areas including the Emergency Departments of RWJBarnabas Health. Applies professional and technical management skills and techniques to prevent and/or control the avoidable loss of any resource. Provides strategic, programmatic and administrative skills in all areas of Occupational Safety, Health, Violence Prevention, High Reliability and Safety Together, Quality, Fire Protection and Environmental programs. Identifies critical issues in order to propose corporate policy. Is responsible for conducting/leading environmental rounds and reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc;
*Minimum of four year degree in an environmental, industrial hygiene, safety or health related science.
*Minimum of five years experience in healthcare safety.
*Certification as a Healthcare Safety Professional preferred.
*Previous experience in collecting, analyzing and reporting quality data.
*Previous experience in a behavioral health setting helpful.
