Johns Hopkins Health System, world renowned for healthcare delivery, education and innovation is seeking a KEY and SENIOR leader to join the JHHS Executive Team as Vice President of Risk Management. This system level role spans six major US hospitals, home care companies, ambulatory surgery centers, 60 plus ambulatory clinics and several international health care facilities.
Serving as a key advisor to JHHS leadership, this risk expert will be responsible for the leadership of the Johns Hopkins Health System Risk Management Program including the development and implementation of the Risk Management Plan. This accomplished leader will report, identify, evaluate, mitigate and monitor operational and strategic risks throughout the JHHS enterprise. Past risk leadership experience in a major academic medical center or large healthcare system is essential.
Through focused and constant oversight of patient events and employee safety, this Vice President advises on all serious risk situations to the General Counsel and JHHS leadership. Through diligent oversight and meaningful investigations, this individual will lead all risk management and patient care legal matters in order to protect patients and staff as well as safe guard the institution from financial and reputational loss.
Ten (10) + years senior risk leadership responsibilities within a major academic medical system or large healthcare system required
Advanced Degree (J.D. or Master’s Degree)
Professional level of knowledge of legal and risk management practices and procedures
In–depth knowledge in the area of Risk Management, healthcare and hospital law
Knowledge of regulatory requirements
Proven leader with highly developed analytical skills
Able to command respect based on experience and knowledge with superior and persuasive oral & written communication skills
Track record in maintaining positive, collaborative and effective relationships with physicians, peers, subordinates and superiors.
Creates a safe environment where mistakes are identified, reported and resolved
Principled with integrity of the highest order
Would embrace a move to Maryland
