The Patient Safety Officer is responsible for providing leadership for safety assessments, coordinating the activities of the patient safety committee, educating other healthcare providers on the causes and prevention of medical errors, and consulting with management and staff regarding patient safety. The officer assists the Risk Manager with chart reviews and actions plans resulting from Root Cause Analysis. The officer also assists the Director of Quality and Informatics with the development and implementation of the annual Patient Safety plan and participates in Code Blue committee work and Incident Command.

The Patient Safety Officer is required to have a Bachelor’s in Nursing and maintain a current Indiana RN license. Two or more years clinical experience required and prefer maternal/neonatal clinical experience. Experience in performance improvement preferred.
