As a Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety Consultant with the MagMutual Patient Safety Institute, you will perform clinical risk management activities within a defined region (Virginia) and in accordance with the department’s strategic plan.
For this role, we are specifically seeking candidates in the state of Virginia, ideally located in or around Richmond (Glen Allen area).
Performs clinical risk management activities within a defined region in accordance with the department’s strategic plan.
Works closely with the Director(s), RSVP(s) and agents/brokers within a defined region to assist with MMPSI products and services to policyholders and prospective policyholders.
Presents and/or supports the presentation of clinical risk management educational programs
Supports the PSIC hospital team through participation in pre-quote calls, sales visits, initial on-site assessments, follow up assessments, and completion of assessment reports.
Supports MMIC through on-site assessments for 1 – 24 MD practices.
Supports the Director(s) with large, 25+ physician practices of on-site assessments
Exercises discretionary judgment and utilizes appropriate evidence-based information when acting as a resource and provides direction/consultation/education to policyholders.
Consults with policyholders and prospective policyholders to identify demand for services, and to review and analyze relevant risk exposure data offering unique and practical solutions appropriate to the setting and develops a customized risk service plan/proposal and consultation.
Maintains technical and professional expertise in order to provide current, innovative, customer-focused risk management and patient safety consultation/education.
Documents all client and potential client interactions and service, within defined timeframes, utilizing the appropriate information location.
Develops clinical risk management resources as assigned utilizing current and professional training and research.
Ensures that educational programs are designed and provided consistent with ANCC criteria.
Maintains collaborative, professional, consultative customer-orientated relationships with internal and external customers; is a team player. Delivers exceptional customer service. Able to manage diverse, specialized accounts with high-level of customer satisfaction.
Ability to organize, prioritize, communicate and meet established deadlines.
Produces accurate, quality and professional consulting reports.
Manages a busy travel schedule with a focus on efficiency from both a cost and time perspective.
JOB REPORTS TO: Director, Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a health related field; RN preferred. 5+ years of experience in healthcare risk management, quality assurance, health law, or other related healthcare experience required. Should be familiar with physician offices, hospitals, managed care and/or healthcare systems and procedures; have a working knowledge of medical records. Ability to project a professional demeanor at all times that reflects favorably on MagMutual and the MMPSI, and sets a proper example for peers and subordinates. Ability to handle confidential information. Travel up to 75% of the time including overnight, is required.
