TMLT is seeking a service-oriented professional with polished written and oral communication skills, as well as strong analytical and organizational skills to fill the role of Risk Management Representative.
Responds to daily inquiries from physicians/health care personal regarding medical risk management issues.
Schedules appointments for physician practice review evaluations:
Reviews in-house claims and underwriting data prior to meeting
Assesses potential exposure for liability by reviewing medical records, touring the facility, evaluating office policies and procedures, and utilizing established questionnaires and checklists to interview physician (s)/administrator (s)/office manager (s)
Conducts in-service and presents recommendations to physician (s) and staff
Conducts Continued Medical Education (CME) component of practice review if elected by physician
Follows up with written recommendation reports within 10 business days.
Plans and develops topics, researches, analyzes statistical data, forms graphs as needed, and writes articles for inclusion in company publications. Reviews various publications, web-sites, and other resources routinely to promote current departmental education on medical risk management related issues.
Participates as a speaker and presenter for risk management seminars. Attends other seminars and events to assist and represent the company. Also participates as exhibitor at various medical related functions.
Qualified applicants will possess at least 2 + years' experience in medical risk management, quality assurance, or related field. Experience in physician education a plus. A bachelor's Degree in the healthcare field or equivalent experience in a clinical setting or in medical liability risk management is preferred. General knowledge of insurance and/or health care risk management, quality improvement, utilization review, infection control and/or health and safety principles in the workplace is needed. Basic knowledge of regulatory and legislative issues and acts as they apply to the healthcare industry is also needed. Applicant should have excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills. Strong analytical skills required.
This is an Austin based position. A significant amount of time spent traveling (60%), including overnight stays of one or more nights/week, is required.
