The Risk Manager will provide onsite Risk Management support for Midwestern University’s Glendale campus and its various clinics in Glendale, Arizona, and will support certain clinical initiatives in all University clinics. The Risk Manager will also support other risk management activities across the University. This individual will coordinate activities with the Assistant Director, Risk Management and take direction from the Assistant General Counsel. The position reports to the VP and General Counsel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides excellent customer service to all customers, meeting or exceeding their expectations, to ensure continuous improvement of customer focused environment
Demonstrates professionalism, courtesy, compassion and respect in communications with leadership, teammates, vendors and patients
Assists with the development and implementation of Risk Management policies and procedures
Collaborates with various clinics, colleges and departments in the identification and resolution of potential risks related to systems, processes and clinical issues
Assists with the development, implementation, coordination and administration of University-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, loss prevention, loss reduction and risk mitigation, performs risk surveys.
Assist with the identification and development of thoughtful solutions to clinical risk management issues, including regarding HIPAA, OSHA, FERPA, Workers Compensation, licensing/credentialing, and other areas
Assists with the support of HIPAA privacy and security compliance and other compliance activities
Assists with the provision of training for faculty, staff, and students on a variety of topic areas, including HIPAA, universal precautions, best practices, and other clinic related issues
Assist in the management of the adverse occurrence reporting system and develops reports to identify trends
Assist in the claims management process and preparation of insurance applications
Perform data entry and other document review, preparation, and management
Manage and track files, agreements, and correspondence
Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree and from an accredited institution required. Professional certification and/or licensure, such as RN, LPN, required. At least three to five years relevant work experience required, including experience working in a clinic or hospital setting. Healthcare risk management and/or compliance experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills desired. The ideal candidate will be motivated and have the ability to consistently produce high quality work that is accurate, thorough, and demonstrates outstanding attention to detail. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and must demonstrate reliability and trustworthiness
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with an electronic health record system preferred.
